Yesterday, TAFIC spokesperson, Gilbert Makombo said that Moore has requested time to make a decision.

“We had a meeting with Moore recently and he said that he will be travelling abroad and he will only give us his response when he returns in the coming weeks.

He has however said even if he does not assume the chairmanship of the club, he will continue supporting the club with finances and other logistics whenever he can,” explained Makombo.

Moore told Mmegi Sport last month that he does not have the energy and money to run a club like TAFIC after he was voted into the position of chairman in absentia. The club has said that it approached some people to take over should Moore decline the position. The new chairperson is expected to drive the club’s privatisation.

Efforts to contact Moore yesterday proved futile as he was said to have travelled to the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile Makombo told Mmegi Sport that the club is yet to get a coach following the departure of the Darlington Dodo.

There are reports that former defender, Davis Mulungisi Kopi will succeed Dodo with Lovemore Mokgweetsi as his assistant. At one point, Kopi deputised Dodo last season. Wrist Mmusi is also expected to form part of the new TAFIC technical team.

“By Friday, we will have appointed a new coach. It is possible that we will rope in Kopi and Mokgweetsi because they are some of the candidates we are eyeing.

The players began pre-season under the tutelage of midfielder, Tafadzwa Maingiri with the assistance of goalkeeper Morapedi,” Makombo said yesterday.
