He said when they were voted into office two years back, they had a plan to take football in the division to greater heights. He said they achieved their goals and improved communication with clubs. “We are in the process of organising a retreat for clubs. That will be a platform for us to discuss our challenges. The issue of the Debswana sponsorship is expected to be discussed. At the moment, a portion of the money goes to grants. We want to start the season on a clean slate. We do not want to be divided,” he said.

He said the only way for the sport to grow, is for the clubs and officials to work together. Babitseng said clubs are happy with the P6 million sponsorship they got from diamond mining giant, Debswana. The three-year deal was struck last year with 80 percent of funds going to clubs, transport and accommodation expenses for players.

Meanwhile, Babitseng said there is need to organise cup tournaments for the 12-team division because the early finish to the league causes a lengthy period of inactivity. The committee will meet soon to deliberate on next season’s fixtures and the end of season awards’ ceremony.

The full committee has: Tariq Babitseng (chairperson), Samuel Keitireng (vice chairperson), Sydney Magagane (secretary), Etsile Mokgwa (treasurer) and Raymond Makwatse, Njabulo Gilika, Ishmael Modise (additional members).
