Tebogo Primary Celebrates Anniversary With Victory Party

The pass rate secured a top 10 spot for the school in the country. The school was ranked number one out the 42 primary schools in Selebi-Phikwe and Bobirwa region. It was in the top five in the Central Region that has about 200 schools.  Tebogo Primary School head, Boyckel Kagiso said it was necessary for the school to celebrate its achievement though it did not reach the 100 percent pass rate that it recorded in 2004. He said two of its students were in the top 10 nationally.

He said the school has made great strides through immense support from parents. “We have a strategy where management and parents analyse results at the end of every school term,” he stated. Kagiso noted that like other schools, Tebogo Primary has a challenge of orphaned pupils and those who stay very far and come late.

“We, however, covert these challenges into stepping stones through which we can reach higher (sic). We are happy that so far, we have never had reports of Satanism but I urge parents to keep a close eye on their children,” he advised.  The school head expressed concern about love affairs and drug abuse when the pupils reach junior secondary schools.

BCL Mine’s divisional manager for organisational capability, Motsile Sibanda who was the guest speaker said the celebration was necessary because the country’s vision for the future is becoming a reality.

He stated that the level of commitment and dedication in producing future leaders has reached high standards over the years in the school and Selebi-Phikwe in general. “We are aware of the challenges like teenage pregnancy, child molesting, child trafficking and others that our children are experiencing today.

We should work together to deal with these challenges so that the young people of today can realise their aspirations. In that way, we can look to the future with confidence,” he said.
