RPC data partners SA software firm

The partnership intends to broaden RPC services through the provision of the all-in one solutions software to companies in a variety of industries including public sector, telecommunications, utilities, financial institutions, production and manufacturing.

“SAP All-in One software falls in line with RPC`s long term strategy of being more customer-centric than product-centric. The partnership will enable the flexibility to adapt and extend as business evolves and grows.

It will also broaden our market because SAP is one of the largest software companies, ” RPC Data Managing Director Komal Rao said at a ceremony held in Gaborone last week.

According to Rao, they will provide a complete solution that encompasses software licensing, implementation services, training and documentation, staffing and optimisation and support.

On his part, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Nonofo Molefi applauded the partnership as he noted that it would build local capacity and enhance skills transfer. He commended RPC Data for assisting the government in job creation as Botswana is currently battling with an unemployment rate.

“I am informed that for the last five years the total revenue generated by RPC Data is estimated at P93.8 million with a total export value of P24.4 million. It signifies a healthy growth which will have tangible results on the economy of our country and it needs to be applauded for injecting the much needed foreign direct investment,” he said

Further Molefi noted that the government has been the principle client for PRC Data as the firm has assisted in coming up with a number of IT packages such as the Government Accounting and Budgeting System (GABS) which is used by 15,000 users, government payroll, Integrated Tax Management System at Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS).

“I hope this new implementation will assist the government in fast tracking its government programme for the better of service delivery.

We call on companies like this to join the government on its e-Government drive,” he said.

RPC Data, which also has presence in Zambia, Uganda and Kenya, is an information technology company, which specialises in the implementation of integrated software systems and services including strategic IT planning, software development, systems implementation and project management.
