Letlapeng opt for Otse Stadium

He said they have not made any signings although negotiations with targeted players are on-going. He said the delay in recruiting players was because of the case in which Black Forest challenged their crowning as First Division South League champions. Because of the case, Letlapeng’s status in the Premier League was confirmed late last month after the National Appeals Board overruled a decision by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) to dock them points.

Magagane denied reports that they are about to recruit Daniel Nare as their new coach. He said they have never considered or spoken to anyone to take over as the head coach. “We have a running contract with Tholeba Ntlhaga until July next year with an option to renew for a further year and he will remain our head coach,” he said. The reports linking Nare with Letlapeng intensified this week after the coach resigned from BMC.

Magagane said they had agreed with Ntlhaga that he will remain the head coach if the team qualifies for the Premier League. He said they also agreed to change the terms of the contract once the team is in the Premier League. “So that is what is left to be done. We have never thought about bringing someone to be the head coach,” he said.

Meanwhile, Letlapeng held their end of the season awards ceremony on Saturday. Kakanyetso Dipholo was the biggest winner after walking away with the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the season awards. He received P1,000 for each award. He will also get P300 for groceries every month for the whole of next season for being named the best player. Sadat Sinare finished as the top goal scorer and pocketed P750. He scored 15 goals that helped Letlapeng gain promotion. Bakang Mabutho was named the most disciplined player and took home P500. Kefitile Magama got P500 after being named the Supporters’ Player of the Season.
