Khama suspends Katse and crew

Katse, together with Amantle Matlapeng, Tidimalo Matlhotse and Stella Matlapeng were recently recalled after they allegedly violated the party constitution and primary elections code of conduct.

Yesterday, the quartet were served with suspension letters signed by Khama after being spotted attending the launch for Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) in Tlokweng constituency last Saturday.

One of the suspended candidates, Stella Matlapeng confirmed to Mmegi that they received letters of suspension yesterday but they requested they should be delivered to their attorney Kabelo Nkwe.

“In a letter that was written by BDP president, we understand that we are suspended because we attended the UDC rally. They also claim that we had been wearing UDC T-shirts, something that it is not true. The letter also claims that we were welcomed by UDC last Saturday during Same Bathobakae’s launch,” Matlapeng said.

The other issue that has been raised in the letter is that the four were seen happily shaking hands with the Member of Parliament for Tonota Pono Moatlhodi who has defected to the UDC affiliate, Botswana National Front (BNF).

However, Matlapeng was shocked because some of them did not attend the rally. Efforts to reach the BDP secretariat was futile yesterday.
