The young deejay moved to Kenya in May this year to undertake the Kinara Leadership Development Programme. While in Kenya, DJ Riley continues with his music and is presently pushing the Blacklisted EP.

Other Southern African artists featured on the EP include MC’s Ill Ceey and Tony Grammz.

DJ Riley hailed Crusader for the project saying it is diverse. “It has the same feel as Misfits Boombox Africa because of the familiar faces.  It is a unique project in that the type of music in it is quite diverse.

We have worship as we know A2J is big in worship,” Riley told Showbiz from his Nairobi base.

Crusader considers Blacklisted a medium through which he can reach believers and raise their spirits  His first project is a mixtape titled Recovery.

“The title Blacklisted embodies the main idea that as Christians, we are often shunned for our beliefs and the EP brings this to light and venerates the need for perseverance through these often very difficult challenges,” he said.

DJ Riley is the brains behind the continental masterpiece, Misfits Boombox Africa.  The purely rap compilation had tracks by Namibian artists Lee Anne Abrahams, Metarmoph, White Ink, Zambia’s Word Effect, Willy Paul of Kenya, The New Born of Nigeria and South Africa’s Jay.

Botswana’s youthful hip-hop outfits X-Caliber and Rebirth were also part of the compilation.

The ground breaking compilation’s theme is: One God, One Gospel, One Continent, One Voice.

One of the highlights of his stay in Kenya, he says, was attending the Groove Awards held in Nairobi early last month.

“The best event I have attended so far is the Groove Awards, their stuff is of high standard,” he said.
