Woman says she stabbed boyfriend over sex

A remorseful Matshwenyego Ramontsho pleaded guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm before Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi after she admitted knifing Goitseone Molefe.

She told the court that she stabbed Molefe because he wanted to have sex with her everyday – even when she is not feeling well.

“I was forced to stab him with a knife because he violently wanted to have sex with me without consent. He is in the habit of having sex with me everyday when he comes from drinking alcohol.

“I reported his behaviour to one police officer who verbally warned him (the boyfriend) to refrain from such conduct. After he was warned by the police he seemed to change, only to go back to his old ways within a few days,” said Ramontsho.

She added that on the day of the stabbing, Molefe threatened her with a knife after she refused to have sex with him.

“I did not intentionally stab him. I stabbed him before he stabbed me to prevent him from having sex with me without consent. I plead with the court to grant me bail because there is no one taking care of my young children since the commission of this offence.

“I also ask this honourable court to give me permission to go and visit him (boyfriend) in hospital. His elderly mother that he is living with, cannot afford to visit him at the hospital,” said Ramontsho.

Molefe is admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

Inspector Boikhutso Selalame applied for the accused to be remanded in custody until the condition of her boyfriend improves. The court agreed and remanded Ramontsho who is due in court again on July 11.
