Moore turns down TAFIC job

Moore told Mmegi Sport yesterday that while he appreciates the faith shown in him, he did not have the time to run the club.

“I appreciate the confidence they have shown in my ability but I do not have the time and the money to be the chairman of the club,” Moore said yesterday.

TAFIC had tasked a committee to speak to a number of officials who were elected in absentia, a growing sign of desperate times at the club.

The club’s spokesperson, Gilbert Makombo said Kenneth Mmilili who was elected marketing manager in absentia, has been approached and agreed to take up the position.

“We are yet to approach Kabelo Olobe and Don Moore who were also elected into the executive committee in absentia. Hopeful by midweek, we would have approached them and heard their views. If they decline, we will map the way forward,” Makombo said. Moore was elected TAFIC chairman while Olobe was elected treasurer.

Meanwhile, officials have blamed the venue for the poor attendance of the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Adansonia Hotel on Saturday.

Traditionally, the club’s AGM is held at its training base at Leseding Grounds and usually attracts a lot of people. But this time it was held at Adansonia Hotel, with club officials saying the venue encourages orderly behaviour. Less than 35 people were present at the meeting. “The location might have been a factor but we felt that Adansonia is the most appropriate location. The set up at the hotel itself encourages supporters to behave decently unlike when the AGM is held at Leseding Grounds. That is one of the reasons we chose Adansonia.

The team has also been performing poorly something which could have demoralised the supporters from attending the AGM,” club spokesperson, Gilbert Makombo said.

Makombo said that they will mobilise supporters and inform them about the outcome of the AGM.
