Poso Card and the Post Office: Response to Sandy Grant

In his column titled The Poso Card and the Post Office, Grant outlines his discomfort in one of the requirements of our newly introduced offering PosoCard, which is an electronic smart card that will replace the current coupons system used to pay social beneficiary money.

We apologise to Grant and indeed other customers who may have interpreted or received the incorrect information regarding social services beneficiaries whose pensions are currently paid through their personal bank accounts.

The facts of the matter is that beneficiaries who are currently using their bank accounts are not affected by the introduction of the PosoCard, so they are NOT required to register unless they decide to change payment mode i.e; change from bank to Post Office.

The only arrangement that they can continue to utilise the post office is when they renew their life certificates.

Therefore, ‘All Beneficiaries’ in this instance as stated in our communication messages refers to those who use BotswanaPost to receive their social services benefits. We urge Mr Sandy and other valued customers, who continue to give us feedback to continue to do so in order for us to serve them better.

We also assure them that customer service remains an integral part of how we do business and will continue to innovate to serve them better.

Thank you.
