Ramozara, Culture Spears part ways

Ramozara, who has since carved out a solo career for himself, a CD album, Lepara la koko, under the comedy name, Ramozara, has not been receiving payment from Culture Spears for three months now, Ramozara has confirmed.

In fact Ramozara’s comic music CD was also recorded without the help of Culture Spears, which also owns a recording studio, Kulenyane Studios. Ramozara was assisted by a South African studio, Kwena ya Nnete, which will also be helping him record his first comedy DVD this month.

Culture Spears’ distribution wing is not involved either in the distribution of Ramozara’s music project. He is doing it alone.

Ramozara says relations with other group members at Culture Spears had reached irreconcilable levels, resulting in him refusing to take part in the Culture Spears’ recent album, Kulanche, which features only two of the founding members, husband and wife Kabelo Mogwe and Magdelene Lesolebe.

“I am doing the distribution and marketing on my own. The album has been well received, although I still have to reach big towns like Selebi-Phikwe, Maun and Gantsi where fans have shown keen interest in the product”.

“It requires a lot of work, shows, promotional events. Early indications are promising, the fans have been supportive, although they have made it known that they can’t wait for the Ramozara DVD; it would seem they want the DVD more; but I wanted this music CD to be the sound track album for the forthcoming DVD”.

Ramozara says he will feature a local comedian known as Umoga aka Tonki e tshetlha.

“Tonki e tshetlha is very keen. Some members of the famous Tripple R could also appear in my comedy, we are still discussing, but we do not want it to look like a Tripple R release as we still have plans to release a Tripple R DVD soon, he said referring to the comedy trio of Ramozara, Ramonyaku, and Ramokewetsepe.

Ramozara adds that in his first solo DVD he will also showcase his far-flung village of Goshwe, near Tutume.

“I am very proud of my roots. Some people would prefer to be known as Tutume people even though they come from the periphery, that’s not me, I want my small village to be known, I want people to know that Goshwe exists on the map”.
