Culture Spears Bitter War

After nine years at the top of the Botswana entertainment industry with the super group, Thembeni, known for such hits as Borikhirikhi, mantwaneng, Bodimo, Kentane, from the group’s four famous albums, has approached his lawyers to seek perpetual royalties from the songs and the albums he helped made famous.

Thembeni, who does not feature at all in the group’s latest release, Kulanche, is also seeking to be paid for the use of his image on the latest album’s sleeve. Thembeni claims he clearly made it known to Culture Spears’ that he wouldn’t want his image to be used on an album he took no part in producing.

The talented artist from Goshwe does not feature in the group’s fifth album.

But it is the claim for a piece of wealth, and perpetual royalties from the group’s previous four albums, as well as from the past four Ekentolo music albums and the Ramozara flicks, which could be more interesting.

Ramozara sees himself as part of the Culture Spears legacy, as the founder, and key in creating both its brand identity, and wealth and as a composer, singer, dancer, as well as being the group’s treasurer since 2005-2012, thanks to his basic accounting skills.
