Mystery surrounds Zambian High Commission theft

On Monday morning, staffers at the Commission were greeted by the sight of ruffled assets and quickly realised that the laptops and cash amounting to P7,000 were missing. An official who spoke to Mmegi on condition of anonymity, said there is mystery to how the culprits had entered and exited the building without forced entry. The building, located in the Main Mall, is closed on weekends and guarded by a security officer.

“What amazes us is that the doors are still intact. Entry into the building is through the front door and the back door, but they both seem untouched,” he said. The man further stated that the matter was reported to the adjacent Central Police Station. Acting Central Police Station Commander, Superintendent Jason Tau, said police received the report on Monday morning. “We received the report on Monday morning and it seems the incident happened on Sunday night. Six offices were broken into with two HP laptops stolen as well as P7,000 in cash,” he said. Tau said no suspects have been located and investigations are still underway.
