The two clubs have been invited for the third edition of the Swaziland Invitational International Basketball Tournament that start today in Manzini.

The men’s teams have been placed in four groups with five clubs each. Up to 20 clubs from Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia, Lesotho, South Africa, Rwanda and Mozambique take part in the three-day event.

Police coach, James Kalebwe said playing against professional club would give Botswana players exposure.

“Playing against some of the best teams in South Africa is definitely great exposure for our young players and experience at the highest level,” Kalebwe told Mmegi Sport.  Organisers of the tournament say the idea is to give basketball clubs in the region international exposure.

Dolphins are in Group C with South Africa’s Braam Blues, Zambia’s City Looters, Craques da Boca of Mozambique and the Swazi national Under- 20 team.

The hosts and Mozambique have included their junior national teams to give them exposure.

Police are in Group D with Namibia’s Rebels, Matero Magic of Zambia and the Mozambique Under- 18 side.

Kalebwe believes his side will put up a good fight in the group. He is convinced their participation in the tournament will make them better than their competitors in the Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) League. The League kicks-off in the second weekend of July.
