Mosetse duo appears for gang rape

Peter Makhali, 21, who is represented by attorney Kabelo Gaonyadiwe pleaded not guilty to the charge as did his co-accused Carlos Mudongo, 22, who had no legal representation when they appeared.

The latter also told the court that he too will look for an attorney to represent him.

Inspector Boikhutso Selalame told the court that he had served the two accused, who are out on bail, with all the documents so that they may prepare their defence.

Basupi granted Mudongo bail on condition that he binds himself with P1,000 and provides two sureties who shall each bind themselves with P500.

In addition Mudongo should appear in court whenever required to do so, shall not interfere with state witnesses, shall not commit other crimes whilst on bail and shall report at Mosetse Police Station every Friday.

Basupi further told Mudongo to confirm on August 8 if he has managed to find an attorney.
