The BNSC is seething because BRU is hosting the international tournament for the second year running while regulations require a four-year hiatus.  BRU president, Elijah Jones told Mmegi Sport the BNSC has invited them for a meeting to discuss the issue after the tournament ends on Sunday. BNSC refused to assist the rugby body financially to prepare for the CAR tournament. BRU had to turn to CAR and the International Rugby Board for assistance.  Jones said the BNSC has assisted them with transport and they have been allowed to use the National Stadium. Efforts to get a comment from the BNSC were futile at the time of going to press.  Meanwhile, the Vultures, ranked 75th in the IRB rankings, lost 54-9 to South African side, Impala Rustenburg in the Six-Nations tournament on Wednesday.

Jones said the technical department would work on the players’ mistakes before they take on Zambia tomorrow.

If Vultures win the game, they will qualify for Group 1B next year.  In other matches, Nigeria beat Swaziland 61-10 while Mauritius received a 54-17 thrashing from Zambia.

Impala is leading with 10 points with Botswana, Mauritius, Nigeria, Zambia on five points each. Swaziland has lost all its matches. Impala was invited by CAR to participate in the tournament after Morocco pulled out.  The side is unbeaten, showing the gulf in class against national teams. Impala kicked off the campaign with a 61-17 win over Mauritius on Sunday. They finish the tournament against 81st ranked Nigeria tomorrow as Swaziland take on Mauritius. All games will be played at University of Botswana (UB) Stadium.
