However, Barclays head of Affluent Segment, Andrew Madeswi said other customers can join the club on the discretion of a senior bank official. The service allows customers exclusive preferential interest rates including foreign exchange.

Madeswi said the bank takes pride in its global expertise and top class products, rewards and recognition for its customers.

“We have also introduced fixed deposits whereby customers lock in their money and have accumulated interest deposited in their bank accounts. In this way, they generate income out of the money they have invested,” he explained.

He said premier banking membership is convenient and offers wealth accumulation and protection, international access and financial advice from experts.

Barclays’ Consumer Director, Tshepho Dlamini said they launched premier banking and interacted with their customers in Selebi-Phikwe just to emphasise the ethos the bank is accustomed to.

“Selebi-Phikwe is one of the viable towns we have made business with over the years. We want to partner with strategic partners in this town. We have been serving our customers well and we have to continue to grow that relationship,” he said.

Dlamini stated that they consider how to make their customers prosper in their chosen businesses. He said the bank has vibrant community social investment initiatives.

“We want to help the nation towards prosperity for all beyond 2016 because we are here to make life easier,” he added.

During the launch of the service, Barclays customers were informed that the platinum credit cards they are offered would give them the freedom to buy items from 24 million outlets in the world.

The customers will also benefit from earning world miles each time they use platinum credit cards. The world miles can be spent against reward flights with any airline to any destination, the bank said.
