UB goes back to old logo

 

A Savingram circulated to staff, titled, ‘Decisions of Council taken on 13th June 2014’, the Council also states that the institution decided to increase university salaries and allowances by 4 percent across the board with effect from April 1. 

“Council has decided to revert to the University of Botswana founding logo and to using the original UB ceremonial gowns for the Chancellor, Chairperson of Council and the Vice Chancellor.” 

During the Friday meeting, the Council also resolved to upgrade the School of Medicine to the Faculty of Medicine. 

“The council has directed that the Students Representative Council (SRC) should revert to its original and primary mandate of representing and promoting the welfare of students, and should not permit the running of SRC elections and SRC affairs along political party lines,” states the Council. 

The Council is also reviewing the university budget 2014/15. “Following a reduction in the subvention amount allocated to the university by government, Council decided to make cuts in the budget to ensure that the university functions within approved limits,” reads the Savingram from the public affairs officer Mhitshane Reetsang.
