Bank Gaborone is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capricorn Investment Holdings Botswana.
The bank's Brand Communications Manager, Gaone Nkarabang, says the Francistown branch is the third since the opening of the first one in Gaborone in September 2006. 'It is our third branch since in addition to the two branches in Gaborone - one on Main Mall, the other at Game City,' Nkarabang says.
Bank Gaborone was issued a commercial banking licence by the Bank of Botswana in 2006 and started operating that same year. Nkarabang says Francistown has a lot of business potential for a bank like hers.
'We believe that Francistown is a good market. We know that there has been a decline in the money industry in Francistown but we believe that there are other industries that we can work with in providing our products and services.
Within a short time of opening, Bank Gaborone installed ATMs all over the country even in areas where they do not have branches. It has ATMs in Gaborone, Francistown, Mahalapye, Selibe-Phikwe, Tsabong, Werda, Molepolole, Maun, Tonota, Mabutsane, Metsimotlhabe, Hukuntsi and Serowe among other places.
Nkarabang says Bank Gaborone aims to have a countrywide presence. 'We are definitely spreading our footprint throughout Botswana,' she says.
