BCP defends poorly attended launch

Despite the constituency being very vast and densely populated, attendance was disappointing. Despite the poor attendance, the BCP national campaign manager Thapelo Ndlovu thought otherwise. “There are a lot of people. We are satisfied with the numbers,” Ndlovu said. He said the constituency is very sparse and the numbers they got on Saturday were satisfactory.

“Looking at all the factors this is a good number. Another factor is that there are few children and most of the people here are voters from this constituency,” he said. Ndlovu reasoned that this constituency is one of those, where the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has been controlling forever. He said the BCP has made some serious inroads in Lentsweletau-Mmopane.

“The contributing factor is Phagenyana Phage has worked very hard to make this constituency marginal,” Ndlovu said. The BCP secretary general Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang launched the parliamentary candidate for the constituency Phagenyana Phage and six council candidates on Saturday.
