BCP tells Minister to clear his name

Phage told residents of Kopong on Saturday that if they vote for the acting minister, there might be a by-election, should the courts find him (Seretse) guilty. “BDP made a mistake by allowing Seretse to contest for primary elections.
“He has to clear his name first because he has a corruption cases that he is facing. The BDP is not sure whether the courts will acquit him or not.
“Imagine if he is found guilty two weeks after election, then it will mean IEC will have to call for another election,” Phage said.
It is alleged that when he was Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) boss, Seretse failed to disclose his interest in Serala, a company that did business with the parastatal. In the second count, he is accused of abusing his authority by directing that eight BTC employees should be recruited by the company.
Meanwhile, Phage accused Seretse of doing nothing for the constituency even when he was Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning.
He said the minister has failed to support the current MP, Moeng Pheto in Parliament when issues of Lentsweletau-Mmopane are raised.
His wife Bontle Phage told the residents that they should vote for her husband because he is humble and loving.
