BMC chairman, Daroush Ghodrati told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they have successfully processed a name change and Miscellaneous will take their Premiership slot.

Ghodrati has been in negotiations with Extension Gunners for a commercial partnership that will see the merger of BMC and their Lobatse rivals. The deal was expected to be announced yesterday at a press conference that was called off because Gunners were said to be seeking clarification on a ‘few issues’.

Ghodrati declined to say why the media briefing was cancelled. But he confirmed the name change from BMC to Miscellaneous.

“I can confirm that our status in the Premier League has been given to Miscellaneous. In fact there has been a name change done through the BFA (Botswana Football Association) and in place of BMC it will now be Miscellaneous,” Ghodrati said.  Miscellaneous chairman, Oscar Sefako only said there was progress regarding the name change.

He said they still had a long way to go before they start celebrating their return to topflight football.

“It is still a process so we are yet to sit down and discuss the way forward based on the latest development,” he said.

BFA legal advisor, Doctor Pusoentsi said he has not been briefed about the return of Miscellaneous to the Premier League.

“It has not reached me. Please talk to the secretariat,” Pusoentsi said. BPL chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi said he was not in a position to shed light on the matter and referred inquiries to Pusoentsi.
