Leopard mauls 12-year-old boy

Reports from the area indicate that the boy sustained injuries to his head and both his hands.

It is understood the leopard snuck into a hut the young man was sleeping in with his brother at 1am before attacking him.

The boy was referred from Letsholathebe Hospital in Maun to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital over the weekend and is recovering.

Police investigating the matter yesterday told Mmegi that it was unclear whether the leopard was from the Game Reserve.

Maun Police Station Commander, Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said cooperation was ongoing with the Department of Wildlife on the matter.

“Investigations are still underway and we are working with the Wildlife Department,” he said.
