Rudy Lamcke, the owner of Tau Mall told BusinessWeek that all the 24 shops have been fully booked. Big retail shops like Shoprite, Pep stores, Woolworths and Landmark have already secured their places, while fast food outlets like Barcelos and Hungry Lion will also open doors at the mall. Lamcke said there are also some pharmacies and doctors who will be operating from the mall while Engen filling station will also set up shop.

Lamcke said the idea of bringing such a massive complex to Gantsi was his way of also giving back to the community.“The mall will empower residents of this area as they will be able to get jobs in the many shops that will be opening doors here,” Lamcke said.

Many residents of the town have also welcomed the opening of the Tau Mall, as they will no longer have to travel to either Maun or Gaborone to purchase some of the goods not available in Gantsi.  “This kind of development is long overdue in Gantsi. The town is really growing at an alarming rate and we really need this,” commented John Oroni, a local businessman. Another resident of Gantsi, Gopolang Mzanywa said, as a small businessperson who sells airtime, sweets and cosmetics, the mall is a blessing to her as she will be able to trade her goods next to it. “I expect to make some bit of money as many people will be coming to do their shopping and I believe they will also buy from me,”said Mzanywa.
