Masule wins big at BPL awards

He went home P60,000 richer after he was named the Player of the Season and the Supporters’ Player of the Season. Masule beat other top performers, Otlantshekela Mooketsi (BDF XI) and Patrick Kaunda (FC Satmos) for the prestigious Player of the Season award.

After a shaky start as Rollers’ first choice goalkeeper, he improved tremendously, forcing Michael Pepukani to sit on the bench for the entire season.

His exploits have impressed national team selectors and he is now part of the Zebras squad. He pocketed P50, 000 for winning the Players of the Season award and P10,000 for supporters’ honour.

Despite losing out on the Player of the Season award, Kaunda and Mooketsi did not go home empty handed. Kaunda finished last season as the top goal scorer and won the Green Boot award.

The former FC Satmos player who has joined South African side, Platinum Stars went home P25, 000 richer. Mooketsi also walked away with P25,000 after winning the Players’ Player of the Season award.  The exciting left back is said to be on his way to Rollers.

Madinda Ndlovu beat Mooketsi ‘China’ Mading for the Coach of the Season award, taking home P10, 000. Ndlovu guided Rollers to their 12th league title after joining from Mochudi Centre Chiefs where he had won the league back to back. A few months ago, he was also named the Mascom Top Eight coach of the tournament.

Kebafilwe Ratshipo was named the best referee of the season, warding off a challenge from Tirelo Mositwane and Lekgotla Johannes.

 He went home P7,500 richer. Kitso Sibanda won the assistant referee of the season crown, beating Mogomotsi Morakile and Elijah Masitha.

In the media category, Fundi Gaoforwe of Radio Botswana was named the best commentator, while Tshekiso Tebalo (Botswana Guardian) won the best photographer award. Monnakgotla Mojaki of Gabz FM was named the best electronic journalist. Kemmy Legwatagwata of Botswana Guardian scooped the print journalist of the season award. Speaking at the awards ceremony, BPL chairperson, Mokganedi Molefe said they are building a monster and will strive to make the league even much bigger.
