Lack of training hurt Spartans

He told Monitor Sport after his team lost 3-0 to Kutlwano in the Mascom Volleyball League on Saturday that the players only meet during matches.

This was the fourth loss by the club in the league, while Kutlwano registered a second win from three games. Masebe remains hopeful that his team will recover because it is still too early in the league.

Meanwhile, Kutlwano fielded mostly new and young players against Spartans on Saturday and failed to rise to the occasion despite the win. The club failed to produce the spark it is known for and was lucky that it was playing against an equally poor side.

Kutlwano’s new signing Thapelo Kamberuka was the most outstanding player in the match. The lanky player was superb in service and attack and won many points.

Despite the below par performance, Kutlwano coach, Dopp Popo believed his team is on the right track. He said they are still trying new combinations and he is confident that his players will grow with the league as they are responding well to training.
