The three-day festival will take place on August 28, 29 and 30 and one of the organisers, Godwill ‘DJ Dagizus’ Daniel, said that their mission is to promote and share cultures and traditions of all people of Africa with the global community.

“This event is fully committed to fostering cross cultural understanding of Africa as a continent and its people,” Daniel told Showbiz.

Events at the festival will include exhibiting African arts and crafts, various cultural dances, ethnic foods and workshops.

Various African flags will be hoisted to demonstrate the unification of the diasporas residing in the US.

Daniel and George Omoth from Kenya are the brains behind the event.

“I liked the fact that it will help Africans living here, Canada and surrounding areas to have a chance to showcase their pride in their culture and origins,” Daniel said.

USA-based Batswana disc jockeys Dumani ‘DJ Dux’ Moncho, DJ Spax-vybz and Daniel are also billed to entertain the public at the event.

South Sudanese big name DJs Rex T Advisor, Mr Independent Okem and an international band comprising of artists from Nigeria, Ghana, DRC and South Africa will also perform at the event.

Impande ye Africa, an African traditional dance group based in Houston, Texas are also billed to perform. Another African group expected to showcase at the festival is Babby from Rwanda.

There will also be Umm Jasmine from Jamaica, King James from South Sudan and many more.

“I think Botswana has musical talent, whether it is hip-hop, traditional music, gospel or what, we ought to put it out there as promoters,” he said.

Daniel has said that in future he will try to get more Batswana artists to perform at the event.

“We have potential as a nation if we work together, whether it is music, business or art,” he said.
