The UDC spokesperson Moeti Mohwasa has explained that the purpose of the workshop is to ensure that candidates understand the manifesto first before they can explain it to their electorates.
“The workshop will be held today and Friday. The reason why we took time is because we had to discuss it before with our electorates and to know how they feel about the issues.  Now we want to make sure that all our candidates understand the manifesto,” Mohwasa said.
During the workshop the candidates will also be taught on election strategies and how they can resolve problems they are faced with at constituency level. The UDC policy director Ndaba Gaolathe is expected to lead the discussions during the workshop. Mohwasa further explained that the manifesto launch will be held during July holidays.
So far the umbrella has managed to field over 50 candidates for the parliamentary seats.  Meanwhile the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) held its party manifesto launch in early April this year while Botswana Congress Party (BCP)’s manifesto was launched at the end of April.
