Twerk is a form of art: Bouncy

The Urban dictionary defines ‘Twerking’ as “the rhythmic gyrating of the lower fleshy extremities in a lascivious manner with the intent to elicit sexual arousal or laughter in one’s intended audience”.

Bouncy who is also known as the Queen of Twerk, however she sees it in a totally different way, arguing that the dance is a form of art that has nothing to do with being sexually provocative.

She explained that it is a special type of dance that requires skill and talent to perform. The choreographer-cum-rapper urged people to appreciate twerking as a form of dance and stop criticising it.

“This is the 21st century and we are living in an ever-changing society where people should appreciate a development such as twerking,” said Bouncy.

She also said people in the society will always have different opinions on twerking mentioning that while some appreciate it as a form of dance others will always criticise it.

She said twerkers should take the dance as a profession and not be misled by people who say it is sexually provocative.

Seasoned dancer Thato Musa from TNT dance group mentioned that as a dancer he sees twerking as a way of self-expression.

Bouncy who will be dropping her new single titled I’m A Monster some time this month said she is in the process of opening a dance studio that will be the focus on a variety of dances.

She also said twerking will not cause any harm to her music career since she combines the two together in some of her performances.

“I am confident with what I do and my fans love it,” she said. Bouncy is signed under Off Campus Events and she has worked with the likes of A.T.I, Spiza and Apollo Diablo.  Bounty will travel to Kenya in a few weeks, where she is expected to twerk.
