In an interview with BusinessMonitor, NPT Coordinator, Cynthia Rendoh said the co-operative will invest in real estate and offshore investments.  “ We are still processing the documents with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and we hope that by the end of the year we will have finished all registrations,” said Rendoh.

Rendoh said they are eyeing Mogoditshane as the best place for a land bank for their real estate business but they are still waiting for the ministry to approve their idea.

“So far we have 40 people who have gone through training but we are targeting to enroll more members”. She however said they have conducted a research and found out that most cooperatives are failing because people are not finically knowledgeable.

“We have found out why co-operative business are failing and we are coming up with God’s principles which we are certain can never fail”.

Rendoh said the success of the co-operative will empower Christian women financially because they are the people who carry a lot of burdens in the society and are also more vulnerable to poverty. “We have discovered that women always carry a lot of social issues and they are mostly exposed to poverty.  We do not just want women in church but we want financially empowered women who have a role to play in transforming the country economically”, said Rendoh.

Speaking to the BusinessMonitor, a christian businessman Bafana Langa who was on a visit to attend a financial literary workshop organised by NPT last week, said christianity is not just about praying but should also have a significant role in transforming the country’s economy. “This cooperative will transform the lives of women because it is not just about Christian affiliation but we want to see a financially empowered nation. In this group we are teaching people about mind set-up and the value of time in running a successful business. By 2016 we want to see the economically empowered Christians,” said Langa.
