The organisation’s 20th Congress, due to be held this weekend in Masunga, was cancelled at the last minute.

Andy Boatile, who insists that he remains BDPNYEC chair, is also accused of failing to communicate and provide feedback on the central committee meetings he attends. NYEC members reportedly voted Boatile out last Friday and replaced him with Riggert Moroka.

According to the report the NYEC members will be forwarding to the party’s central committee over the latest troubles, Boatile is also accused of failing to submit a single report from the central committee, where he represents the youth.

“NYEC members usually hear about vital NYEC or Central Committee decisions through social media platforms instead of the chairperson who sits on the central committee,” the report reads.

“The chairperson has hence been inefficient in his duties as per rule 9 which discusses the duties of a chairperson.”

In their report, the disgruntled NYEC members also raise issue with the alleged dismissal of two Committee members and the failure to hold party meetings every quarter.

Yesterday, Boatile said he had not received any correspondence from the disgruntled committee members and still remained the BDPNYEC chairperson. On Friday after the vote of no confidence, Boatile told Mmegi that he did not recognise the platform that passed the motion nor the motion itself.

“I have heard rumours that some NYEC members tabled a motion of no confidence against me and chose another person,” he said.

“What they did is just a joke because I am still the chairperson. They do not have powers to do so.”

Disgruntled Committee members say the no confidence meeting was constitutional as it was called by committee secretary, Gosego Matlala with Boatile’s knowledge.
