The victim is expected to give evidence and be cross-examined behind closed doors in order to protect her privacy.

Members of the public will only be allowed in court when she has finished her testimony.

By the time of going to print yesterday, the victim was still on the witness stand.

Masilo is alleged to have robbed and raped the woman on August 9, 2012 at Phase 4 location in Gaborone West. The State says Masilo also caused grievous bodily harm to his victim during the process of raping and robbing her.

He is also alleged to have stolen property including a Samsung and a Nokia cellphone.

Besides his rape and robbery charges, Masilo is separately charged with the murder of a 17-year-old St Joseph’s College female student on November 16, 2012, in a sensational case that dominated newspaper headlines and public comment.

The 22-year-old former Botho College student allegedly attacked the schoolgirl inside her home in Phase IV, with pictures of his alleged bloody capture going viral on social media.

In his ongoing rape and robbery trial, the State is represented by Kutlo Tsekane while Kgosietsile Ngakaagae represents Masilo.
