The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs Edwin Batshu paid a courtesy visit to the International Labour Office (ILO) in Pretoria, South Africa recently to appreciate the role of the ILO and increase cooperation.The ILO among others, informed Batshu about their decent work country programmes developed in conjunction with workers, employers and other stakeholders. The programme is currently the main vehicle of delivery of ILO support to Botswana.
G4S bring sports training to Bots
Wharic rugby fields will be a beehive of activity from today to Wednesday when security giants G4s bring together over 1,000 children for sporting, and life skills coaching through their Africa programme Bhubesi Pride. Botswana along with Tanzania, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia are the beneficiaries of the G4s community social responsibility initiative which delivers mass participation in rugby, sports and education programmes in schools and street communities.
Eight graduate at BDF wings parade
The Botswana Defence Force on Friday held their Wings parade graduation ceremony for pilots at Thebephatshwa Air Base where eight pilots graduated. The course which started in November last year officially ended in April. The air Arm commander Major General Odirile Mashinyana officiated at the graduation ceremony
Khama: pray for nigerian girls
Athletes and officials featuring at the on going African Youth Games (AYG) have been urged to pray for the kidnapped Nigerian school girls (Chibok girls). The call came from President Ian Khama during the opening ceremony. “As much as we all intend to enjoy ourselves during this event, let us also remember another group of young people in our thoughts and prayers who are the many young girls who were kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria.”
