The club has transformed from being a community entity to a private team and changed its name to Motlakase Power Dynamos. It is now owned by five directors, Gaolatlhe Kelesitse, Mangisi Segadimo, Bashi Gaampone, Gregory Kealotswe and Ambrose Chima.
Club spokesperson, Monty Gagomokgwa told Mmegi Sport yesterday that after careful considerations, they have decided to go private as running a community team always has difficulties. He said the process of privatisation at the club started last year. He stated that contrary to popular belief, they do not get funding from Botswana Power Corporation.
He explained that they changed from Motlakase Sporting club to Motlakase Power Dynamos, which is more friendly to those who do not understand Setswana. He said the club is trying to source sponsorship from people who do not speak Setswana.
Gagomokgwa added that after acquiring a plot, they are determined to build a stadium before the start of next season.
If the facility will not be ready in time, they will have no choice but to play their home games in Selebi-Phikwe.
Meanwhile, reports reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that the hottest striker in the Premier League, Master Masitara will be donning Motlakase colours next season.
It is understood that the Zimbabwean has signed a pre-contract with the Palapye side though Gagomokgwa has denied the reports.
Motlakase have been courting Masitara and nearly signed him last season before he decided to stay at Nico United. Masitara has also been reported to be in the shopping lists of some big guns like Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
