BTCL communications manager, Golekanye Molapisi said in a statement that the prize money has been credited directly into the clubs’ accounts as per the agreement and direction from the Premier League office.
To enhance relations with the Botswana Premier League, BTCL will once again host the renowned be MOBILE Premier League awards. The event is aimed at celebrating local football by rewarding top achievers of the past season.
Through football, BTCL has ascertained that it serves its customer base whilst at the same time promoting social cohesion and providing quality entertainment through sports.
The event scheduled to take place on June 4, 2014 at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) will be broadcast live on Botswana Television to ensure extensive coverage to all key stakeholders.
Over the years , be MOBILE has continued to play its part to ensure local football grows in leaps and bounds.
The company has committed a substantial amount of its revenue to football from five million pula per season in 2008 increasing the sponsorship amount to the tune of P24 million for three years in August 2011.
Since the company started sponsoring the league , the game has become competitive and intriguing.
This is evidenced by the competitive nature of the league, whose champion was not decided until the final games.
Football clubs are also becoming more commercial by going the prisatisation route like Gaborone United, BMC (now Rangers), Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Such developments can only lead to positive results.
Botswana football has advanced considerably from where it was before be MOBILE came on board in 2008. The be MOBILE brand has also become synonymous with the ‘beautiful game’ - a sport that not only unites us but also brings a feel good factor to the entire nation. (be MOBILE)
