In an effort to reward creativity, the crew tried to match the awards’ status, delivering the package, which unfortunately was taken the wrong way.

The press package was a wooden box chained and padlocked with words, which read, ‘caution live adimals’.

The boxes were not received well as the police were called in to assess the peculiar package leading to a number of media houses loosing a good hour or so.

The gentlemen who delivered the packages wore protective clothing, fuelling suspicion that the contents of the wooden box might notå be safe for humans.

Themed Adimals on the Loose, the awards are in their second year running and are billed for June 7.

Entries for the awards, hosted by Association of Communication Agencies (ACA), in partnership with the Ideas Expo Botswana opened May 12 until May 29.

“When we conducted an analysis of last year’s awards and started planning the instalment, we found it important for the awards to have a stand alone identity from ACA.  This separation would be critical in establishing the autonomy of the awards process and ceremony, as well as separating the awards from the advocacy duties and other day-to-day business of the ACA,” said chairman of the ACA, Thabo Majola. Tumiso Mabusela of Ideas Expo, urged all agencies to enter the awards to create healthy competition.

“We are calling all admen with the loudest roar, the biggest bite and the sharpest wit to come forth and claim their territory,” Mabusela said.

The awards have 14 categories up for grabs, which include Film and Television, Print and Radio Communication, Brand Identity, PR Communication Campaigns, Integrated Campaign and Collateral Development, Digital, Events, Publication Design, Packaging Design and Outdoor.

Organisers in their press statement revealed that the awards would have a panel of local and international adjudicators.  Six judges are selected from regional and international creative agencies and seven judges are local industry players.

Eligible candidates can submit their work, which should have been produced as of May 1, 2013 and on or before May 22, 2014.

Last year, a fairly new public relations firm, Integrate Public Relations, walked away with a bronze in the Integrated Campaign category.
