The young Ngele was outstanding when he led Platinum Stars to the title last December. Although he was in and out of the team last season, he did well whenever he was on the pitch.

He capped a fine run in the Telkom Cup with exquisitely taken goals in the closing stages of the final against Orlando Pirates.

However, Ngele was not present to receive his award on Sunday evening as he was away on national duty with the Zebras in Burundi.

The player has continuously been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, it was not the best weekend for Botswana track star, Amantle Montsho who stuttered to second place finish in the Samsung Diamond League in Shanghai on Sunday.  Montsho was behind Jamaican Novlene Williams-Mills who clocked 50:31secs.

The reigning 400m Diamond League queen could have done better had she finished strongly.

She remains second in the overall standings behind Williams-Mills as the circuit heads to Eugene in the US on May 31. Botswana’s 800m star, Nijel Amos was absent in Shanghai after his second position finish at Doha the previous weekend.
