Serowe debutants warn First Division opponents

“We will not be pushovers. We have a few players who have had stints in the First Division and the Premier League, which makes us a strong side. However, our main mandate this season will be to sustain our stay in the First Division. We will possibly start fighting for promotion to the Premier League next season,” a confident Teseletso said. He stated that the club from Serowe earned promotion through teamwork supplemented by generous funding from their sponsor, Food Botswana.

He said this year, the company pumped a lot of money in the team and this helped in the promotion bid. “This season they really invested a lot of money in the team, which perhaps explains why we gained promotion to the First Division,” Teseletso said.

Tsabotlhe, together with Kazungula Young Fighters were promoted to the First Division League over the weekend after a four-team play-off in Orapa. The Serowe side topped the play-offs with seven points in its debut. While Tsabotlhe will be making their maiden appearance in the First Division, Kazungula have been there before. Tsabotlhe affiliated to the Central District Division One Regional League in 2006. They will join other Serowe sides, Green Lovers and relegated Miscellaneous in the First division.

In the play-offs, Tsabotlhe got P3,000 for finishing first, while Kazungula pocketed P2, 000. Real Rovers and Gunners of Khwai got P1, 500 and P1,000 respectively.

Debswana donated P15,000 to finance the play-offs.
