Mmegi has leant that just two weeks back, at Block 5 in Gaborone, the Barataphathi called the youth who are aligned to their faction to consider consolidating into one team so that it becomes easy for them to contest in the coming youth elective congress.

“This forced Thabo Autlwetse and Twoboy Matseka’s teams to form one team.

“In their last Friday meeting, the two teams decided that Autlwetse should contest for chairmanship while Matseka will be contesting for projects and fundraising officer,” the source said.

Before then, Matseka has been campaigning for the chairmanship.

Andy Boatile, Autlwetse, Baruti Thato and Mpho Setuke will contest for BDP chairmanship. Matseka’s team will now be a part of Autlwetse’s structures.

It is alleged that constituencies that supported Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi for the chairmanship of the party during the BDP Maun elective congress in 2013 would back ‘Team Autlwetse’.

The source further revealed that the two teams are meeting today to finalise the logistics of how they will approach the campaign.

Autlwetse confirmed that they had met and decided to be one team.

“We have a backup of some party elders and this time around we want to win.

“Our resources are limited and consolidating teams will help us win elections since we have the same support base,” Autlwetse said. Matseka also confirmed the consolidation.

“I can confirm that the two teams have consolidated. We have decided that Autlwetse should contest for chairmanship and we came up with the final lobby list,” he said.

In addition to Autlwetse and Matseka’s stated positions, the lobby list includes Vepaone Moreti as vice chairman, Keakile Thabang Keakile (secretary), Kabo Ketshogile (vice secretary), Pelonomi Petlwana (treasurer), Molebedi Lunga Oduetse (information and publicity) and Sethu Maano as political officer.

Boatile’s lobby list has Moabi Mayange Simon as vice chairman, Chomi Letlole as secretary, One Lekau as vice secretary, Tuelo Metseyabeng as treasurer, Kudzani Tobokani as political officer, Goitse Phorie as information and publicity officer and Slumber Mokgosi as projects and fundraising officer.

Setuke’s lobby list includes Kgosietsile Kolojane (vice chairman), Edwin Dikoloti (secretary), Batsho Makhokhoba (vice secretary), Kutlwano Phiri (treasurer), Peter Sejoe (information and publicity officer), Susan Mopedi (projects and fundraising officer) and Wakgotla Seakgano (political officer).

Baruti’s lobby list includes Yame Kebabonye (vice chairman), Gosego Matlala (secretary), Segametsi Sebenyane (vice secretary), Sadik Moorad (treasurer), Ronald Kgathi (information and publicity officer), Stitch Mogenda (projects and fundraising) and Pollar Motimola (political officer).
