Sergeant Boikhutso Sekadima on Monday told Chief Magistrate Gaedupe Makgatho that there was no vehicle to transport the pastor, Monametsi Ntekola.

“The accused is not aware of today’s mention. We heard that he was in a field (masimo) near Tonota,” said Sekadima, adding that they will inform the accused of his next mention date set for June 24.

Sekadima also informed court that the docket for the case has been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for assessment.

Ntekola allegedly raped the four students who were also congregants in his church.

Trial dates in the case have been set for September 16, 17 and 18 this year.

Meanwhile, the court heard that a forensic report and exhibits in a case in which a 17-year-old boy and six others allegedly found in possession of elephant tusks have been sent to the police laboratory.

Inspector Kedibonye Motswakae applied for another mention date to be set with the hope that by that time the forensic report will be ready. Makgatho set July for another mention.

The accused, who are all without legal representation, said that they had nothing to say concerning the delay in the case.

Last year Sub Inspector Mothosera Busang told the court that investigations conducted by biologists from the police forensic laboratory showed that the items found in the accused’s possession were elephant tusks.

The state alleged that Dojiwe Kaelo, 55, Joel Kaelo, 25, Simisila Rekiso, 39, Propaganda Thwane, 25, Golobilemang Jackson, 23, Odirile George, 19, and a 17-year-old minor were found in possession of three elephant tusks on July 22, 2013 at Nata in the Central District.
