Lehupu family gets donations from church

After hearing about the recent ordeal that the family went through after a grandchild killed four members who included grandparents, aunt and a child at their lands near the village recently, their Prophet Keletso Moenda visited the remaining family members to give them his condolences.

“Upon our visit, we realised that the family was in great need of food, clothes and other things and found it fit to intervene as it is our responsibility to take care of our fellow brothers and sisters. This is a way of supporting our government’s Vision 2016 initiative,” BFCC public relations officer Masoko Masoko said.

He said that they chose to support a Compassionate, Just and Caring Nation pillar. He said that is one of the church’s initiatives to show support and care to the needy in the society. “The word of the Lord says that we must be our brother’s keeper. Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives. Our doctrine is love so we believe that love conquers all,” Masoko added.

In his remarks, Moenda said that it was indeed a privilege to partake in such a prestigious event. He said that it is every citizen’s right to make sure that they care for the less privileged members of the society. He said it was heartbreaking to see the state that the family was in as it had 20 people living in two old huts and a room that was not completely built.

Speaking on behalf of the District Commissioner, Goitse Lekaba applauded the church for its good gesture. She said that it was indeed an enlightning feeling to see Christians fulfilling their duties as the Lord had instructed them. She encouraged the church to keep up with its good job.

Overjoyed uncle Reetsang Kaongala thanked the church for its loving and warm gesture. He said that they had received more than they expected and were glad that a very large gap in his nephews and nieces lives would be bridged as they would not only eat well but also be warm in winter as they were given clothes and blankets. The prophet also gave the elder family members some money. BFCC had spent over P10,000 excluding clothing and blankets which members bought for the family.
