Golekanye, 29, is an upcoming poet and author, yet to publish her first book, which she describes as multi-facet, tackling different issues.

Golekanye lights up with excitement as she talks about her soon-to-be published book, which she says is complete and awaiting publishing.

“I have a complete manuscript.  I am just waiting for an ISBN number so that I can print my book,” she explained.

Golekanye’s book is about Christianity, which draws inspiration from the Bible.  She is a born-again Christian who made a conscious choice to dedicate her writing to the religion.  She explained that her book has a number of independent chapters.

“The chapters tackle a number of issues, some of which are my personal experiences, but leaning more towards the importance of having God in my life and what God has done and continues to do for me,” she said.

The chapters in the book, include Thanks Giving, a chapter which is dedicated to giving thanks to God, and My Cry, a chapter which she says, captures her life experiences.

“It is my hope that my book will help my peers cope with challenges they encounter in life and serve as a counselling tool for those who are going through a rough time,” she explained.

She has another chapter titled My Inheritance, which she says, addresses the issue of what she has inherited by making a choice to give her life to God.

The book has a number of chapters, which marry the word of God, with life’s challenges.

Her poems are not that different, as she uses God quite generously in her poems.

A poem she titled Wife reads:

This is your love, your soul’s desire

Your true love

You carry him in your heart

You love him to bits and pieces

Your cry holy in your heart

You pray grace be unto us…

The poem emphasises the importance of including God in relationships.  The young woman from Serowe has another poem titled Husband, which also uses God as an important factor in the success of a marriage.

Interestingly, Golekanye has a poem titled My President in which she captures the peaceful aura that reigns in the country, as compared to war-ridden countries.

She subtly praises the current administration in her poem.

…Even as days of many are dark

My days are full of beautiful opportunity

A chance to rise and broaden my capacity

A hope and a dream over and above

To be a Motswana in this life, a true privilege

I am appreciative of the response to care for me and my brother

To put me first in my safety

For your compassion I stand in owe

Thank you for your heart

The heart of gold that cares for me a commoner.
