Contrary to reports that the BFA would know by lunch time yesterday if the man popularly known as Gino would join the rest of the team, Zebras’ coach Peter James Butler said the player out-rightly refused last week to come. He said the player had told them he had already made plans to go on holiday with his family.

“The welfare manager rang him last week and he does not want to come. He made it quite clear to the media that he was not interested in playing for the Zebras. The offer is open if he wants to come,” Butler told Mmegi Sport.

The coach said another player who has snubbed the Zebras is Mochudi Centre Chiefs striker, Bonolo Fraizer. “If players don’t want to represent the country they should not go crying to the media.”

Butler has called Township Rollers’ defender, Oscar Ncenga, Extension Gunners’ right back Musa Ohilwe and Edwin Olerile of Gaborone United to stabilise his young team after a 4-1 thrashing by lowly Swaziland on Sunday night.

Butler played several youngsters against Swaziland and is convinced they will grow into good players in future.

He bemoaned defensive errors for Sunday’s result and said the team that will face Burundi will be different.

Celtic winger Joel Mogorosi, Platinum Stars’ duo of Mogakolodi Ngele and Kabelo Dambe, and Galabgwe Moyana were expected to join the team yesterday afternoon ahead of the Burundi tie.
