He said at a rally in Tsamaya in the North East District that BCP should desist from the cheap politics of insulting the BPP at public rallies. He said the BPP does not have time to trade barbs with the BCP because there are better issues to discuss.

“The BCP has got the tendency of referring to BPP as a dead party. But let me warn the foulmouthed BCP activists against the idea. As politicians, we should devote our time to educating our supporters and informing them of our respective agendas,” said Gudu at the welcoming ceremony of nominated councillor Chibuya Patrick Kuchwe who defected from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to BPP.

He stated that the BPP activists do not have time to taint the reputation of other opposition parties when the main enemy is there for the taking. He urged opposition parties to join forces and fight the BDP to relinquish power.

“By bad mouthing BPP, the BCP is oxygenating the BDP. But we are not going to retaliate as BPP but warn the BCP against the tendency,” said Gudu.

BCP spokesman, Taolo Lucas has said he does not remember when his party termed the BPP a dead party. He said the BCP does not have anything against the BPP and is focused on fighting BDP. “All our efforts are directed at unseating the BDP. We did not take anything from the BPP and they (the BPP) did not take anything from us. So there is no point of fighting them,” said Lucas.

He believes BPP and BCP share the same ideal of liberating Batswana from bondage, poverty and economic slavery brought about by the mismanagement of the country’s economy by the BDP-led government.
