Yesterday, ECCO vice chairman, Mothibedi Latlhang said senior Santos officials are expected to arrive in Francsitown next week to negotiate the release of the player.

“Nyumasi was actually recommended by David Bright who is a keen admirer of the player. As far as I know, the player will not be attending trials. He will be signed outright if terms are agreed,” he said. Bright, a former Santos’ coach has been given an advisory role in the Santos technical team. “We have an agreement with Glamour Sports to negotiate various deals on our behalf so they will be handling the deal and negotiating a package for us with regards to the sale of Tendai,” Latlhang said.

Comfort Ramatebele of Glamour Sports has said Bright has contacted him about Nyumasi.

“Bright phoned me enquiring about the possibility of signing the player but it will be premature to talk more about the proposed deal before meeting the Santos management,” he said.

Another South African club he declined to name has enquired about the player though nothing concrete has come through.

“I have also made proposals to other clubs I cannot name now to have the player on trial,” he said. Ramatabele said that he is planning a deal for striker Gosaitse Manuel away from ECCO. “I believe he can fit well in some clubs in the South African elite league and the First Division as well as some second tier leagues in Europe. He has had a poor season, but that does not mean he is a bad player,” Ramatebele said. Meanwhile, Bright was unavailable yesterday for a reaction but Santos chairman, Golaam Allie denied that they are interested in Nyamusi.

“The club is however, interested in signing any player that can help improve the fortunes of the club. I was the first person to sign players from Botswana, so I am willing to sign more. I am aware of what players in Botswana can offer,” he told Mmegi Sport.

In the middle of the just ended season, Nyumasi was linked with a move to giants Gaborone United where Bright was a coach. The move fell through after the two clubs reportedly did not agree terms. Nyumasi has been a revelation since joining ECCO more than two years ago though he has had unsuccessful trials at South African, club Mpumalanga Black Aces.
