Big guns court Piet

Township Rollers were favourites to get the player in the last transfer window but the deal did not go through.

At the time, Rollers were said to have promised a signing on fee of around P60,000, which is the one of the highest in local football.

Right now, Chiefs are said to be seriously interested in the player and willing to meet the demands, which include a signing on fee of at least P50,000.

This trumps Gunners’ offer of between P35,000 and P40,000. “I can confirm that the player is in high demand.

We are talking to some clubs and continue to engage them in relation to their interest in him. We only want the best for him,” Gagomokgwa said.

He said he will not only look at the monetary benefits when he negotiates with interested teams but the welfare of the player also.

“It is important that he also goes to a team where the technical team and not just the management is interested in him.

I do not want a situation where he makes a move to a team and sit the whole season on the stands because the technical bench was never interested in his services,” he explained.

The 27-year-old Piet has established himself as one of the best attacking players in the league.

Nico are also still interested in keeping him although they have admitted that they have not started negotiations. Club spokesperson, Kgakgamatso Moreri said they wanted to start negotiations six months ago but this did not happen because the player wanted someone to represent him in the talks.

“Topo told us he wanted someone to negotiate on his behalf but that person was said to be out of the country at the time.

We still want to keep him and hope we will succeed in negotiations,” he said.

Meanwhile Nico have decided to keep head coach, Kenneth Mogae whose contract is coming to an end this month.

Mogae replaced Elijah Chikwanda in the middle of the season on a short contract.

However, the Nico management have decided to keep him as the head coach although the two parties are yet to negotiate a new contract.

“We were supposed to meet him this week but he told us he was traveling to South Africa.

We will sit down with him when he returns,” Moreri told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Nico finished fifth in the just ended season.
