The east, the northeast and southern parts of the Central District, are expected to experience largely normal winter temperatures with a tendency to warmer weather.  Normal maximum and minimum temperatures for this region during winter are expected to be between 7°C-24°C. The southern half of the country - Kgalagadi, Ghanzi, Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng and Kweneng districts are expected to experience largely normal to above normal winter temperatures. Normal maximum and minimum temperatures for the region are expected to be between 5°C-23°C.

The northern parts of the country like Ngamiland, Chobe and northern parts of the Central District are expected to experience largely normal to below normal temperatures over the weekend. Normal maximum and minimum temperatures for the region are expected to be between 9°C to 27°C.  Principal meteorologist, John Stegling, said that notwithstanding the forecast, cold spells would be experienced at some points.

He said this is normal during winter. “There are times when we are going to experience temperatures of minus one degree or minus two degrees Celsius, but again these are normal occurrences during winter,” he said.
