The local thespians forced spectators, who included other theatre performers from Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia, to be on the edge of their seats throughout their performance thanks to their exhilarating presentation.

The play reflects on the challenges that women face when searching for love.  Stronger Women’s thematic framework explores various topics with intensity and ultimately presents women themselves as the panacea for all abuse they are subjected to.

A vivacious Gosego Madziba plays the character of a woman who had a relationship with a married man for monetary gain.  Through her performance she won the audience with an outstanding portrayal on stage alongside Kwenze Mguni (Tiger).

Produced and directed by Lionel Nkosi, the play illuminates how women can act like a tea bag whose strength can only be realised upon being dropped into hot water.  Having been at the same stage performing The Debt, the local group was familiar with the Zambian audience.

“In the beginning, we thought it was a Botswana play that will only appeal to Batswana,” said a bowled over Madziba after receiving kudos from other thespians.

“I was touched to realise that the play has a universal message which is anti-abuse of women and taking them on a ride.  It has got the potential of sending a strong message to women out there not to stoop that low,” she added. For his part, Mguni said he was equally bowled over with the audience reaction.  He said the development has given the group motivation to work very hard and be more appealing to the global market when it comes to performing.
