Eyeing the international market. Hip hop artist Bishop Marumo signed a five year deal with Gallo Record company.

Marumo has secured a five-year contract that will see him sell his music internationally and build his profile as an artist.  The EP will be used to market the full album that he will later release with the company.

“I am really excited and want to make this opportunity count for me and local music.  This is the biggest thing I have achieved as a musician and this is all thanks to a team of professionals like my manager,” he told Showbiz.

The hip hop starlet, impressed Gallo after he remixed Lucky Dube’s Remember Me song giving it his own signature.  Marumo is optimistic he will make a lasting impression with international audiences.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity which can open even bigger doors for me if properly used.  When they (Gallo) told me they were interested I knew I was on the right track.  I kept quite until the deal was signed, but now I am happy to share the news with everybody,” he said.

As a lesser-known musicians, Marumo says he decided to keep a low profile after breaking into the scene some years back because “there was no need to make noise without any product”.

“I have never released any albums so my profile matches the way I have been marketing myself.  I have not been aggressive in marketing my music and my image.  However, all that is set to change with this new deal.  I hope to use the opportunity to build my image,” he said.
