During the UDC election launch for Gabane/Mankgodi constituency candidates, the coalition parliamentary hopeful Rtd Major General Pius Mokgware revealed that apart from threats on Boko’s life, a Cabinet minister recently confided in him that he should tread very carefully. Mokgware, who retired four years ago as the commander of the ground forces in the Botswana Defence Force, alleged that the minister told him that the hit list on UDC leaders extended to a select Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members who are living in fear of being eliminated.

Mokgware also alleged that President Ian Khama is implicated in the laptop that was allegedly stolen by the late John Kalafatis.

Earlier this year a prominent lawyer, Dick Bayford, went on radio to declare that his clients, the Kalafatis family, are being systematically hunted down by state security because of an alleged controversial sex tape that the state security believe the executed John Kalafatis had in his possession. The alleged video apparently shows visuals stored on a laptop of a prominent state official in compromising sexual acts.

The UDC president also confirmed the house break-in at his house. Boko further told a shocked gathering that trade union leader Johnson Motshwarakgole, who was scheduled to be one of the speakers at the Gabane launch, was attacked on his way to the Saturday event. Boko said Motshwarakgole, who instead of attending the well-attended rally had to go for medical attention, is said to be on the alleged hit list.

“This is the last time they attack me,” said Boko before adding that he would reciprocate.

Meanwhile Tlokweng Police Station commander superintendent Lebalang Maniki confirmed the break-in at Boko’s house. He said they are still investigating the matter. Efforts to reach Motshwarakgole were futile at the time of going to press.
